I have been learning how to make instruments. One of the instruments I made was a rattle; created from bison hide and attached it to a stick from a Manitoba Maple. It speaks to me of the flow that comes from ice breaking in the spring. This is my rattle song.
A response to the Greek myth of Arachne, a brilliant weaver who was challenged to a contest by a goddess. Arachne technically won the contest, however, fundamentally lost when she was turned into a spider as punishment for her insolence. A comment on the cost of brilliance.
