The dusk settles as fine particles on the wizened grooves of time. I look out into the contented sun, into the treed settlements, and feel out of place in my longing. I walked on the edge of the shore today, my pants rolled, feet stinging from the brine, and let the mysticism of the retreating tide sear my soul. It always does. It brings me to shadows of the moon and to the swell of something beyond this world. It’s easy in my land-locked world to forget how the moon pulls, to forget that I am water, or mostly and it tugs within me in the endless wane and wax, ebb and flow. I am such, for tonight I ebb and search endlessly for you in each shallow retreating tide. I search for you in the retreating light, in everything that seems to move further away from the silhouetted solitude of my shore.

Lyrics

In the land of the dying sun
The girl, she stands
On the plains of her bloodless heart
She has come undone, the tattered sum
Of this stardust love

Let away be thy name
Cross the sea carried
By the lonesome waves
Of disparity
Away, you are so far away

The words have all been sung
Every sad note wrung
From her storm-cast eyes
She pulls the ship-wrecked tides
With her siren sighs
Of what's left behind

Let away be thy name
Cross the sea carried
By the lonesome waves
Of disparity
Away, you are so far away

Oh so far away
On these yesterdays
She casts her washed up spells
To lay so far away

Let away be thy name
Cross the sea carried
By the lonesome waves
Of disparity
Away, you are so far away
Away, you are so far away

She calls the guarded deep
For the air can't hear
The weight of the words she keeps
She holds the leying lines
Of dissolving time
'til they find again
'til they find again
