I was sent this rendition of a Canadian flag from Mary Vavalle in Italy.
We Canadians tend towards very little patriotism. For me, I love the land, the spirit of the trees and forests, the great vastness and the wild that sits on the edge of each heartbeat. Toward the governing entity I am fairly typical of most Canadians I think, somewhat apathetic ~laugh~, but as for the land, I am completely and utterly smitten. Still, seeing the flag and knowing that someone who came to my country was moved enough to draw one, stirs something a bit primal within me. Pride in this space, although why I cannot say why. It sort of encompasses all that beauty into a single beacon in my mind. Canada...beautiful...wild...free. Thank-you Mary for this lovely reminder of all of Canada's beauty.
